Ian John Kowalick AM Non - Executive Chairman Qualifications BSc (Hons), BEc Appointed 19 December 2002 Ian Kowalick has qualifications in science, engineering, economics and finance. Ian has worked in technical and project consulting, economic and business analysis for resource companies, banking and investment. From 1995 to 2000, he held the most senior management position in the South Australian public sector. Ian is currently a director and consultant. At present, he is a Director of NuPower Resources Limited, Chairman of Playford Capital, a councillor of the University of Adelaide and Chair of its Finance Committee, and Deputy Chair of the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust. He has been Chairman of Arafura’s Audit Committee since 2004 and Chairman of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee since December 2010.


Chris Tonkin Non-Executive Director Qualifications BSc (Hons) Metallurgy and Chemistry, BA Economics and Politics, MBA Appointed 1 January 2011 Chris Tonkin has over 25 years experience as a senior business executive with a broad industry background in business generation, management and strategy development. He has a substantial track record in structuring and arranging complex financings for companies and projects, in Australia and internationally, across all major industry sectors and particularly the resources, power and telecommunications sectors. He began his career as a metallurgist and environmental specialist, diversifying into commercial roles at several major industrial companies and subsequently project finance, corporate and project advisory roles at AIDC, The Chase Manhattan Bank. KPMG Corporate Finance and ANZ, where his most recent role was Head of Natural Resources, Project and Structured Finance. Chris is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Member of the Finance and Treasury Association.
Ian James Laurance AM Non -Executive Director Qualifications BA (Econs) Appointed 15 February 2008 Ian Laurance is currently Chairman of the publicly listed property development company, Axiom Properties Limited (AXI). Ian represented the electorate of Gascoyne in the Western Australian Parliament for 14 years. He is a former State Government Minister and at various times held the portfolios of Housing, Tourism, Regional Development, Lands and Conservation and Environment. In recent years, Ian has been Chairman of the Western Australian SportsCentre Trust (1993 – 2003) and Chairman of the Midland Redevelopment Authority (2000 – 2004). Both these organisations are Western Australian Statutory Authorities. Ian is also Chairman of the not-for-profit organisations, Australia’s North West Tourism based in Broome, WA and the Ningaloo Research Centre Inc based in Exmouth, WA. In a voluntary capacity, Ian is Vice President of the industry body, Tourism Council WA and Chairman of the AnglicareWA Winter Appeal. In 2006, Ian was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).


Stephen Ward Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Qualifications BSc (Hons),Chemistry, PhD in Physical Chemistry Appointed 1 January 2010 Stephen (Steve) Ward has over 30 years experience in the Chemical, mining and minerals processing industries. He is a graduate from the University of Nottingham; BSc Hons Chemistry (1976) and PhD in Physical Chemistry (1979). Steve gained 20 years broad experience with titanium pigment producer Tioxide Group Ltd (now Huntsman Pigments) where he worked in production, operational, engineering and technical roles at the Australian production facility. He became the inaugural General Manager responsible for the development and start-up of Tioxide’s manufacturing facilities in Malaysia (early 90’s). He has subsequently moved to business management roles based in the UK and became an executive director of the global company with general management responsibility for the European, Middle East and Southern Africa business unit. He then spent 7 years with Australian publicly listed minerals sands producer Iluka where he was President of the USA mining and processing operations and global Executive General Manager responsible for sales and marketing and business development. He then formed his own consulting business providing services to the resources and chemicals industries. He subsequently joined Cristal, a Saudi Arabian based titanium pigment producer as Senior Vice President Strategy and Development for a 3 year period. Steve was appointed a non-executive director of Arafura in 2007 and became Managing Director and Chief Executive officer at the beginning of 2010. He is a former non- executive director of Consolidated Rutile Ltd and former Executive Chairman of Bemax Resources Ltd. Steve is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Terry Jackson AM Non-Executive Director Qualifications KLJ, FAICD Appointed 27 April 2007 Terry Jackson is a Western Australian Industrialist with a private group of companies that has interests in innovative manufacturing, intellectual property development and vineyards. Terry has an electronic engineering background, working for seven years in the communications industry, thereafter seven years in management sales and service of industrial and scientific research equipment. Self employed for past thirty eight years, he has had business relationships with many major international corporations including a research partnerships with Exxon, Toyota, Johnson Controls and Austria Steel. He is a Foundation Fellow of The Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Shasha Lu Non - Executive Director Qualifications PhD, Masters degree Appointed 21 July 2009 Ms. Shasha Lu was Executive Director and CEO of Hong Kong East China Non-Ferrous Mineral Resources Co. Ltd. (HKECE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern China Exploration & Development Bureau (ECE). HKECE holds the foreign business interests of ECE. As an employee of Arafura and based in Nanjing in the Peoples Republic of China, Ms. Lu is responsible for Business Development opportunities and synergies for Arafura within China.. Ms Lu also holds a Degree in Medicine from the Tianjin University, China and a Masters Degree from Nanjing University, China. She is currently studying for an EMBA in Nanjing University. Ms Lu has worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden and as a Visiting Scholar at the Geneva University during which time, she undertook some work in the World Health Organisation. In 2008, Ms Lu Shasha joined Eastern China Exploration & Development Bureau and became the executive director and CEO of Hong Kong East China Non-Ferrous Mineral Resources Co Ltd. Ms Lu is also a director of Australian ECE Nolans Investment Limited and ECE Nolans. .


Dr Alex Losada-Calderon Non-Executive Director Qualifications PhD in Economic Geology and Geochemistry, (Hons) Geological Science Appointed 25 September 2009 Dr. Losada-Calderon has 25 years experience working worldwide as a geologist, project manager and country general manager for various mining and engineering companies. He has been involved in metallurgical research in government organizations; and feasibility studies and the development of major mining projects in the Caribbean, Latin America and East and South Eastern Asian Countries. Dr Losada-Calderon is the Managing Director of TAE Resources Pty Ltd. TAE is a private consultancy company that provides strategic advice for mining companies in the areas of mineral exploration, project acquisitions and financing, partnerships and JV. It also provides business development, project assessment and company valuations. Until the end of July 2009, Dr Losada-Calderon was the Vice-President of Exploration and Business Development for Southwestern Resources Corp (SWG) located in Vancouver, Canada. SWG had its major projects in Peru and China and was taken over by Hochschild Mining PLC of London in July 2009. Dr Losada-Calderon is also a director of Australian ECE Nolans Investment Limited and AOSU INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT CO. LTD

Lloyd Jones Non-Executive Director Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering, MBA Appointed 30 August 2011 Mr Jones has been involved with the chemical industry for many years and more recently in private equity. He has a long and distinguished career in chemicals at very senior executive management levels. Mr Jones has substantial international experience having worked in Australia, USA, China and Japan, and with responsibility for extensive operations. During his period involved with private equity, he was based in Hong Kong. Mr Jones joined Alcoa Inc. in 1982 following a period with Wesfarmers CSBP Ltd. His career with Alcoa progressed through various mining, chemical and mineral processing roles, General Manager of Western Australian Operations, to President of the company's US Smelting Business, with responsibility for global manufacturing coordination. His last role with Alcoa was based in Asia as President Alcoa Asia Pacific. Mr Jones joined Cerberus Asia Advisors, responsible for activities in Greater Asia and Australia. He is currently a member of the board of the Myer Family company. Mr Jones holds a Bachelor of Engineering and an MBA from the University of Western Australia. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

Loretta Reynolds Non-Executive Director Qualifications Bachelor of Economics (BEc) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Appointed 16 September 2011 Ms Reynolds is a corporate lawyer specialising in complex commercial transactions and mergers and acquisitions. MS Reynolds has wide ranging experience in Australia, internationally and in the regulatory environment in South Australia and Northern Territory. Since 2007 Ms Reynolds has been Chairman of Partners at Australian law firm Thomsons Lawyers. Ms Reyndols has Board experience in the areas of superannuation, arts and education. In 2011, she was awarded a Board Diversity Scholarship by the Federal Government and Australian Institute of Company Directors.
